Semi-trailer operation and maintenance instructions

Semi-trailer operation and maintenance guide

  1. Limit the steering wheel rotation Angle

As one of the easily damaged parts of the vehicle, the semi-trailer’s booster pump requires the driver to avoid pushing it to the limit position when operating the steering wheel. We should properly rotate the steering wheel to reduce the continuous pressure of the booster pump, thereby extending its service life.

  1. Protect the side of the tire from scratches

Because the tire side is relatively weak, we should pay special attention to protect the tire side when driving the semi-trailer up and down the steps or crossing the curb. While avoiding a frontal collision, it is also necessary to pay attention not to rub the side to prevent side damage resulting in tire damage.

  1. Avoid forced use of water nozzle at low temperature

In the winter low temperature environment, if the nozzle is frozen, we should not force the spray of glass water, so as not to damage the pump. The correct approach is to wait for the vehicle to start, the vehicle temperature rises, and the spray nozzle is naturally thawed before spraying water.

The same is true for the wiper, we should avoid using the frozen wiper, because it cannot provide an effective cleaning effect.

  1. Avoid driving with hand brakes

We suggest that when controlling the speed of the semi-trailer, make more use of gear, predict in advance, shift diligently, and reduce the use of brakes. Especially when going downhill, engine braking should be used, occasionally supplemented by foot braking to avoid stepping on the brake downhill for a long time to protect the brake pads.

Before the vehicle starts, we must check and release the hand brake. Driving with hand brakes is a driving habit that wears out the brake shoes.

  1. Reduce frequent operation of the combination switch

Although the light flashing of the semi-trailer may be satisfying to the owner, we should reduce the frequency of operating the switch to reduce the risk of damage to the combined switch. Because at the moment the switch is switched on, the current through the switch contact will be much higher than usual, if it is ignited in the half-engaged half-separated state, the spark may burn the contact. Therefore, we should minimize the frequent operation of the combined switch to extend its service life.
